How I came across This Book:-
Earlier this year(2023) I got my hands on a tablet to study and
take my video lectures without straining my eyes too much. As soon as I got the
tablet I installed my online study app and Kindle on it.
As I am an
Amazon Prime user, I already knew that many books are available for
free on Kindle under the Prime reading collection and found this great book, “
The Great Train Journey” by a legendary Indian Author “Ruskin Bond”. Ruskin
Bond is a familiar name to me because his stories are published in school textbooks in India, and Ruskin Bond is a renowned author in the Indian
Subcontinent. So I added this book to my Kindle library and started reading.
About This Book:- This
book is a short story collection in which all the stories revolve around
trains. And I am myself a fan of train journeys and Indian Railways. All the
stories in the book are so perfectly written that they will make you aspire to
take a train journey in the Indian Subcontinent, especially in the Siwalik
region of the Himalayas because almost all the stories are based on the train
journeys of the Siwalik region. This short stories collection consists of 13
stories which are-
1-
The Great Train Journey 8-
The Woman on Platform No. 8
2-
The Eyes Have It 9-
Snake Trouble
3-
Dragon in the Tunnel 10- The Night Train at Deoli
4-
Belting around Mumbai 11-
Time Stops at Shamli
5-
Going Home 12- The Tunnel
6-
The Long Day 13- Kipling’s Shimla
7-
The Tiger in the Tunnel
All these stories are great and fun to
read but ‘The Night Train at Deoli’ and ‘The Eyes Have It’ are my personal
favourites.

Drawbacks of This Book:-

Some of the stories may feel
repetitive at first.
·
This book is not for everyone and may
please certain target readers.
·
Many Stories in this book are shorter
than the general size of the short stories.
